Friends of the Horicon Marsh International Education Center (HMIEC) will host a reception and art show featuring wildlife artist photographer Annette Boelk. The artist reception will be held on on Friday, June 25, 2010 at 6:30 PM with a book signing. The reception will be held at the Horicon Marsh International Education Center located at N7725 HWY 28 between Horicon and Mayville. Boelk's photography will be on exhibit that evening. She has recently published her book "Wisconsin Wings and Wildlife" which will be available for sale. The artist will be present to do a book signing during the reception. She will also talk about her book and show slides of her pictures at the event which will begin at 7 PM. This book is a collection of unique wildlife images that sheds new light on the peace and serenity inherent in the wetlands. The book showcases more than 200 photos taken at Wisconsin's Horicon Marsh which is the largest freshwater cattail marsh in the United States. Proceeds from the book signing and sales will go to support the education program at the HMIEC. The art display and reception will be held on the lower level of the education center.
Annette Boelk is a freelance wildlife photographer from Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. Boelk's range of work, richly represented in her book, "Wings and Wildlife in the Wetlands," includes notable images that have been used in newspapers, books and magazines and is accompanied by a photography display called "Wisconsin Wings and Wildlife." With each image, Boelk presents her interpretation of the wild to educate about the habitat, survival skills and unique beauty of wetland fauna.
This reception and art show is free and open to the public. The art show will continue to be on display and open to the public until Friday, August 13, 2010 during regular center hours which are 9 AM until 4 PM daily.
